Counselling Services at Carnelian Counselling

Suzanne - Founder & Counsellor

Hi, I'm Suzanne - Welcome!

Carnelian Counselling is more than just a business to me — it’s the kind of place I always dreamed of creating. A space where clients come first, where values matter, and where I get to collaborate with people who genuinely care.

I’ve spent over 30 years working in big corporations across the world, and even from the early days, colleagues (and friends) used to call me “Counsellor Troi" - always ready to listen, help untangle a problem, or offer a fresh perspective. That nickname stuck, and in many ways, it pointed me towards the work I do now.

For the past 10+ years, I’ve been a coach, supporting people through change, business and personal challenges, and sometimes simply helping people remember who they are. More recently, I trained as an integrative relational counsellor, which means I work in a way that’s flexible and calls on many different evidenced based techniques.

The relationship we form is key to the work we do together. Whether you're looking for a coach, a counsellor, maybe a little bit of both or not sure what you need, let's chat. You may be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or need someone to walk alongside you for a while — I’m here.

We also have other counsellors within Carnelian - Hannah our CBT counsellor and Jordan, an integrative counsellor. They align well to the kind of service I need and want for you. We're all keen to help.

Hannah

I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with a background working in mental health, supporting individuals from all different backgrounds experiencing emotional distress. I have worked with adults and young people facing anxiety, low mood, stress, and other challenges, and I offer a warm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to talk.

My approach is collaborative and tailored to your needs, helping you to better understand your experiences and develop practical ways to cope. Alongside CBT, I have a particular interest in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), supporting you to build self-compassion and move towards a more meaningful, values-driven life.

My interest in counselling developed during my psychology studies at university and continued through my work. During this time, I found that I really connected with listening to others and came to see

what a privilege it is to be trusted with people’s experiences and to

support them through difficult times.

I am an integrative therapist with a background in hospitality and family support. I offer a calm, gentle and compassionate space where you can feel supported through life’s challenges. I have experience supporting adults and young people with loss, anxiety, low mood, family and relationship difficulties, abuse, anger and low self-esteem. I work responsively and collaboratively, helping you explore and make sense of the feelings, thoughts and experiences that may be difficult to understand on your own.

As an integrative therapist, I draw on person-centred therapy, psychodynamic approaches and CBT. My work is strongly informed by person-centred values, with the therapeutic relationship at the heart of the process. Where helpful, I may also use some tools to support deeper insight and practical change.

My dedication to counselling began through my own experience of therapy. The feeling of being truly listened to, understood and accepted stayed with me, and inspired me to offer that same support to others. This commitment deepened while studying and in my work with children, young people and adults.
